CAPITAL ONE ARENA ENTRANCES

art direction, design, experiential design

The Capital One Arena general admission and Capital One Cardholder entrances lacked clear differentiation, energy and strategic intent. Fans often didn’t realize there was a designated entrance for Capital One cardholders–offering early access and shorter wait times simply by showing their Capital One card–at all.

Through customer research, journey mapping, and on-site walk-throughs, we refocused our design and messaging strategy to highlight not just the perks of being a Capital One cardholder but also the excitement of being a fan. This resulted in two distinct entry experiences that match the energy and anticipation fans bring to game day. To ensure a more cohesive brand presence, we also developed a simplified design system for our card art, creating a recognizable identity without the visual clutter of multiple card colors.

The Capital One Cardholder entrance–exclusive to those with a Capital One credit or debit card–now offers a standout blue carpet experience. This added touch of exclusivity sparks FOMO, drives word-of-mouth buzz, and reinforces the VIP treatment our VICs (Very Important Cardholders) deserve.
